A Guide On How To Increase Pitching Velocity

By Lela Perkins

When one is a pitcher in a baseball team, he actually holds one of the most important roles in baseball because he will actually be the one who will determine whether the team will gain the advantage or not. For this reason, the pitcher must be able to perfect his pitching. Now if one would want to know how to increase pitching velocity, he must take note of a lot of things.

Now when one is a pitcher, he must understand that the only way to throw a good pitch would be to use the whole body. Now the upper body, the lower body, the hips, the arms, and the legs must all work together with proper timing. Because of this concept, a pitcher must equally exercise all parts of his body.

Once one has studied the physics on how to correctly throw a ball, then he can now put it into practice. The first thing that he must do is to get used to throwing with a relaxed body. A tense body will only worsen the throw because being tense will make the body nervous and will not allow a fluid throw.

Aside from the conceptual side of how to pitch, there is also the detailed and technical aspect of it. Now the first detail to take note of would be how the arm is positioned and moved. The arm must be pulled back enough in order to create a swift swinging movement.

Once the arms are already dealt with, then one must take note of the movement of his torso. In order to create a lot of force behind the arm, the shoulders as well as the waist must be given an extra twist. This rotation will be able to give a lot of centrifugal force which will create speed and power.

Last but not the least, one must now concentrate on moving his legs properly in order to create a sudden boost of power that will actually result in an unbelievable increase in velocity. Now what most pitchers do is that they raise their legs high in the air and stomp them hard on the ground right before they pitch. They actually do this because it will give them the right type of power as well as some balance.

Once one has combined all of these technical and conceptual aspects all together, then it will result in an explosive pitch. So in a nutshell, one must stomp his foot, twist his body, and swing his arm all at the same time. Also, one must also remember to flick his wrist just a second before the pitch in order to give an extra speed booster.

So as one can see, all the motions have to be done in just one movement. Of course the preparation for the throw will take a little bit of time but the smashing of the leg, the twisting of the body, the rotation of the arm, and the flick of the wrist takes just one second. As long as one knows how to increase pitching velocity, he will know how to do this.
