Skin Treatments for Rosacea

By Alistair Nole

The chronic and occasionally progressive facial disorder called acne rosacea is one that worldwide, affects 45 million people. Permanent redness, swelling, exceptionally sensitive skin, and bloodshot eyes are common complaints of those who suffer from this condition. This skin condition was known to only affect people of north-western European descent, and has been nicknamed the curse of the Celts by some Irish folks.

Darker spots can form on the face from melasma and this is close to what rosacea can do. The marks are more red with rosacea, that is the main distinction. It's natural for people's faces to turn red from time to time. When a person's adrenaline rises, it can cause redness. Dilation of arteries happens after people eat spicy food, and this is another reason redness occurs. However, rosacea takes redness to an abnormal level.

Doctors rule out bacterial infection as a cause for rosacea. Some people have a higher tendency to blush than others, due to genetic reasons. Those who consume alcohol can have redder faces, but when that person has rosacea, it can make it worse. Dermatologists note that rosacea often shows up with people at around the age of thirty.

Prominent blood vessels on the face, red cheeks and pimples and other bumps, and puffy skin in the nose area are common symptoms of rosacea.

Laser treatments are often used to treat many types of skin conditions, including rosacea. Dermatologists usually prescribe a topical rosacea treatment to begin with. There are antibiotic skin creams available that are effective for treating rosacea, and minocin and tetracycline are common ingredients in these. This works for both light and moderate cases of rosacea. Dermatologists will prescribe more heavy duty oral antibiotics when the disorder is very highly advanced.

Putting on more makeup is usually the first thing rosacea sufferers do to cover their face. The fact about this is that the issue will be made worse by using too much makeup. Do not use makeup for this reason, be sure to only use it when it is for an important engagement, and don't use much. Whenever possible, no makeup is the best solution. Cleaners that are mild in nature are the best option for rosacea symptoms. Rosacea is not as likely to get worse if the face is kept as clean as possible. It's also a good idea to use only natural cleansers that don't contain strong chemicals and substances. This way, your skin won't be subjected to harmful irritants that will only further damage it.

People of any ancestral background can be afflicted by rosacea, making their lives less than optimal. Depending on the certain kind of rosacea that a person is suffering from, a suitable treatment can be devised that will be most beneficial to a patient. In order to lessen the effects of rosacea, using a natural skin product is a wise idea. However, like any medical condition, it's always best to consult the specialists. A reputable and reliable skin doctor can provide you with the most effective treatment for melasma, rosacea, and other skin disorders to make you happier and more confident.
